About the Author

Born in 1929 to Walter and Shirley Ferguson, Bruce has been a life-long resident of Union in Boone County, Kentucky. Bruce's roots run deep in the soil -- and history -- of Boone County. The farm was established in the1820s when his ancestors moved here from Virginia. Along with farming, Judge Ferguson has had an exceptional political career in Boone County. He served Boone County as Judge Executive for 22 years from 1964 to 1992, and left this post to serve as the Kentucky Commissioner of Local Government for several years. Throughout his life, Judge Ferguson has been an advocate of Boone County History, organizing both the original Friends of Big Bone and the original Boone County Historical Society. While County Executive in 1988, he established the Boone County Historic Preservation Review Board, an appointed board of seven members still active today.
